Just thought I'd let you know that the date of the Gawsworth show is on May 3rd this year. Will follow the usual format of display, autojumble & informal concours in the gardens/grounds of Gawsworth Hall.

While the event is principally open to pre-75 vehicles, we also actively encourage certain types of more modern machinery of a specialist nature: i.e. Caterham, Lotus, TVR, Marcos, Morgan, Aston Martin, Noble, Ultima, Porsche, Ferrari, Alpine, Corvette, etc.

Last year we had many more bikes attend the rally which was great, so if you've got an interesting machine from a classic trials bike to the latest MV Augusta why not come along.

The Historic Rally Car Register are attending with a number of their cars and also setting up a Scalextric rally stage in the Orangery. The stage will be timed and open for allcomers to compete against the clock. A prize will be given for FTD.

For further details ring Gawsworth Hall on 01260 223456.

My dad's determined to make this event in his MGB and wants me to tag along. Is anyone else going from this forum and if so what's it like, are there any interesting pistonhead type cars or is it just for oldens.

GT1. If you have an eligible car/vehicle you can just turn up on the day and display. I'm assuming you may have a Porsche in which case you will be in the usual display area, Barry and Chris from PCGB are coming over tomorrow for their pre-event inspection.

GT1. A Venturi would be very welcome, they are pretty rare and I don't think we have had one on display before.

I usually attend Gawsworth in my Scimitar GTC. It's undergoing some repairs and renovation at the moment and wont be ready in time. Is a Jaguar XKR Convertible an acceptable substitute or is it a bit too common?

Sorry to hear about the Scimitar, as you normally attend the rally I would be quite happy for you to bring the XKR in its place. Perhaps you could give me a ring on 01260 223456 and I will make room for it in the Jaguar display area.

what's the best way to get to Gawsworth coming in from the north M6 direction, also the best roads without speed bumps to negotiate ?

Great. Thank you.
It was actually a guy from PCGB that mentioned this show a couple of years ago. All good things and said 'one not to miss'.
Really looking forward to it smile

Get off at junction 19 and follow the signs to Macclesfield. This takes you through Knutsford but there are no speed bumps. You will end up on the A537 (Chelford Road). When you get into Macclesfield you will reach a roundabout with a BUPA hospital to your left. Take the 4th Exit signed Leek A536 and there is also a sign for Gawsworth Hall.

Not the quickest or the most scenic route but it's the route with the least potholes and mud!

I'm considering bringing my 71' Nissan S30 Fairlady Z-L (JDM version of the Datsun 240Z) down on Monday, although I can't definitely commit at this point (I'm doing another show on Saturday and we have friends coming to stay this weekend). From the above post, Gawsworth, I take it would be alright for me to turn up on the day and exhibit?

It's a pity we haven't been able to muster the usual Z Club contingent the last couple of years, but all the local regulars seem to be off the road for dramatic rebuilds/engine swaps etc. at the mo!

If you're coming north up the M6 come off at J17 (Sandbach). Turn right at the top of the slip road and then left about 300 yards later towards Holmes Chapel. Continuing on this route you'll pass Jodrell Bank. There are no speed bumps etc. It is quicker than the J19 option and offers better roads to enjoy on the way to Gawsworth Hall.
