hi, i'm trying to find a scrap yard, the ones where you can look round yourself, get what bits you need and pay on the way out.

do these still exist? or have health and safety killed them off.

if so, somewhere around preston, lancashire?? and has a good stock of citroens.

thanks in advance

Try a Citroen dealer, they're usually full of junk.

Not a very helpful post..^^..rolleyes

To the OP:-

I would think many salvage/scrap yards would discourage customers rooting round themselves these days, for obvious health and safety issues, with four or five cars parked on top of one another....

Contact Hill's Salvage in Skelmersdale. There's no way you will be able to wander around, but they will probably be able to sort the parts http://www.hills-motors.co.uk/

Douglas Valley Breakers at Standish once let me wander around one of their indoor places but i had to leave some ID whilst i did it.

Plenty of stuff there - but more damaged cars for sale rather than bits for breaking.

Google 'em!

only went for a few saxo bits ended up walking away with a new project!! awaiting delivery!!

Good stuff.

Is it a Porsche?

I recall they've got big massive racks full of battered old Porsches there. Or they used to.

I once drove past after picking my Dad up from a works do nearby and cut through Bradley Hall and at 1am in the morning, the night light reflecting of a rack full of old Porsches was a bit eerie and surreal!

Is Bury in Lancs any good for you? if so Pimhole in Bury is good for breakers, about 5/6 iirc all next door to each other, though some are much better than others.

They've gone all professional now, the yard's organised and closed to public access, but you have a nice warm reception area to wait in. They prefer you to ring ahead for the part too, so they have time to source it for you. I know a chap that works there smile
