Been given an odd job, to find an available area of land to run some training from in the NW area. Ideally available for 5 days rental. Something approx half a mile long with tarmac/concrete. Old runways for example.

Already got Stretton, Woodford, Samlesbury.

Does anyone know of any other locations or good suggestions??

Is Burton Wood an option or has it all been built on now?

I think someone may complain if the M58 was shut for a week. The others are not big enough, but thanks for trying.

Boss tongue out You could try going to this website...

http://www.homepages.mcb.net/bones/index.htm

...and downloading the .kml file in the Airfields section. Open it in Google Earth and it locates every airfield, including disused ones in the UK. There are surprising number in the NW. If you trawl through them all you might find somewhere with a big enough patch of disused tarmac.

There is one at Burscough where you can still see the runway, but the tarmac doesn't look the best, if it's still paved at all.

I would love to know if there were any areas in the North West where you could arrange to play on too. anyone with any suggestions, no matter how small, please let me know.

What are the events at Burscough and the services on the m61??

I live a few hundred yards from the Leyland test track. There has been the occasional closed rally event there but as far as I know it is not possible to hire it or go and use it. I would be there daily if you could! I think it will be built on in a couple of years too.

Cheers

Doubt you could find any usable tarmac on the old runway at Burscough, its all ind. est now and the land owner doesn't take kindly to anyone messing about.

Turned out Samlesbury was the best place.

Depends on what you are after. I got a contact after asking for the Estates manager at BaE Samlesbury. Given the size of what is left there, i doubt there is any hooning opportunity tbh.
