Going to Manchester to see Michael McIntyre on the 21st October and staying over in the Arora, we are planning on going for a few drinks afterwards, can anyone recommend a few decent bars?

What sort of places do you like normally? What sort of music do you want to hear?

Personally I would head for the Northern Quarter. It's all down to personal choice but bars like the Living Room do nothing for me. I can't see the appeal in trying to get in somewhere where with a stuck-up bint who thinks she's Victoria Beckham deciding who gets in. I would avoid the following chav-fests at all costs:

  • The Printworks
  • Peter Street (The Square, Brannigans, Bar 32)
  • Canal Street
  • Deansgate Locks

Another vote for the northen quarter - one of my faves is Common smile

ETA - restaurants nr the venue will be heaving just before the show - make sure you book or eat somewhere a little further away. I saw him when he played Manchester in November - was fantastic!! smile

only thing about N Qtr is its kind of a reverse snobbery thing. Easy to get turned away for being too smartly dressed, weirdly enough
