Tunnels

Hi guys,

Does anyone know of any decent tunnels in the North West? I'm after a hoon through a decent one to "test" my new exhaust, but Conwy, Newcastle tyne tunnel and Dartford are all a bit of a trek!
Is there anything over wirral way perchance?

Big kid, although it was rude of us not to try it ourselves when in Italy last year. I don't know about anywhere on the Wirral apart from the Birkenhead but no doubt that's got cameras everywhere, but there's the tunnels under Manchester airports runway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuCnIOQdEW8 ??

You are sat on the doorstep of the longest of all the tunnels you've mentioned, ... The Mersey Tunnel, ..... What is wrong with that???

Failing that, there's the infamous runway tunnels at Manc Airport/Wilmslow.. just off the M56 too so easy to find. Just don't do like the footballers do and hit the railings :rollseyes:

Birkenhead tunnel is wider, 2 lanes each way. Wallasey tunnel has a narrower, separate tunnel for each direction.

Do both to hear the difference. In a Tuscan S with CCC's and roof of it sounds loud enough to shatter the tiles !!!

I reckon the entrances to the tunnels is worn smooth by all the lighting up that goes on.

And plod has a habit of waiting for you to shoot out of the end so try to be a little conservative with the exit speed

Can someone give me directions to the tunnel(s) please?

Let's say I come off the M60 from Stockport way and onto the M56... Where from there?

From Stockport.

Come off at M56 J6, watch out for the slip road which is quite tight.

Turn right at the lights towards Wilmslow, the tunnels are about a minutes drive down the road.

There are two in a row and a roundabout after the second one so you can do it all over again

And go round and round till
a) your dizzy
b) the fun prevention officers show their face and think your being a naughty taliban stan
c) you get bored.
