On the way home tonight I spotted a suspicious looking object on the anti-clockwise carriage way between J23 Ashton-u-Lyne and J22 Oldham.

Whatever it was, it was still wearing a protective cover.

Anyone else spotted it? It is on the left in the dip where everyone gets plenty of speed up in the 4 lane wide section.

I'll try and take a look on my way to work tomorrow morning.

Cheer.

ETA Moved to the correct section by mods - cheers

Here it is:

Just off the hard shoulder. Interestingly, that layby just after has been known to house a Police car when I've been past, and is a warning on my mobile speed camera database. Maybe they've put a static camera in instead?
Or, it could be that there's to be extensive roadworks along that stretch, and they're putting a static camera in to ensure traffic stays at 50 or whatever? Like they did when all the roadworks were being done between stockport and the trafford centre?

Cheers, I had a good look this morning - looks like one for some roadworks. Hope the roadworks aren't too restrictive - I'll have to get up earlier for work in the morning. irked

Been past it now - there's one as above between ashton and oldham in the dip, then another just as you approach the A62 turnoff (that really tricky bit where everyone stares at their satnavs in a vain hope that it'll tell them which lane to get into... then they swerve at the last minute).
Does look like they're there for planned roadworks... but I wouldn't bet against them being live already. s.

Live news as it happens! There are now 3 speed cameras on that stretch. 1 anti clockwise as already mentioned, and the other 2 clockwise on the central reservation. This is for long term roadworks as alreay said.
However, be warned if you're coming from Oldham as I was this morning. This is the diversion you have to take to get onto the m60 at A.

Traffic planning muppets. irked

So you can use the motorway but not get onto it using the Southbound slip road? What are they doing?!?

This could be a problem when I try to get home tonight!!

I stayed in Oldham last night, but noticed the wraps had been taken off the camera as I drove up in the evening.

Oh well - cross country it is to get home then......

ETA: I'm guessing you can't get on from the Broadway slip road either?

Is it just J22 northbound slipway thats going to be completley closed?

I was told SPECS are going to be installed for the duration of the roadworks though.
