Anyone at a loose end this weekend? Fancy a run out across the moors and through the Dales to http://www.tanhillinn.com/? Meet at William Loughran's http://www.williamloughran.co.uk for 10 A.M. (that's when they open and he's got some luverly cars there at the moment) then set off for Tan Hill where (if we get the numbers) they'll lay out the barn for us so that we'll be assured of food as they do get VERY busy on a Sunday. Tan Hill is the highest pub in England and was made famous with the Everest double glazing advert, if you're old enough to remember it rolleyes If you can't make it for 10, then the route will be:-

A59 TO CLITHEROE (11ish)
B6478 to CLAPHAM (via GISBURN FOREST)(GISBURN FOREST 11.30ish)
B6479 SETTLE to HAWES (SETTLE for 12ish)
TAN HILL for 1 P.M.

As usual, please cut & paste Lois style if you're coming so that I can notify people with the numbers. Thanks.

Looks like a good run out but we can't make it this weekend.
Depending on the date/weather, maybe next time if you decide to arrange another one smile

Sounds like a good trip, but I'd rather be on those roads a little earlier in the day. A59 to Clitheroe on a Sunday at 11? Busy... and lots of motorbikes wobbling around. B6478 is pretty rough in sections now beyond Slaidburn. Mind you, that Settle to Hawes road is soooooo good, and the first stretch has a brand new surface. We tend to use Hawes Cafe if 'round that way - friendly prices if you like an old fashioned cafe.

If the weather is good, I'd be tempted to an early raid now that you've got me thinking about it! Yeah, something greasy for elevenses at Hawes smile

We could have met up somewhere else a lot earlier, but I thought you lot would have liked to have a look around William's toy box first. Keep an eye out for 1 or 2 cars coming through Hawes then.

Oh well, at least we won't stand out that much then with a massive convoy. At the moment there's just myself that'll be at William Loughran's and we'll be picking a few more up on the way over to Tan Hill.

Hi'ya Darren, if you come where will you meet us?
Chris, yeah, I know what you mean yes
If anyone is planning on coming along, could they please own up as it'd be polite to let the pub know the numbers. At the moment I've got 3 people meeting at Loughran's, 1 just outside Clitheroe and 2/3 in Hawes. Thanks.

I will come for a run over the moors, if you don't mind a little blue mx-5 tagging along at the back...

Just a note on the route though, according to this quick Google route we run through Slaidburn. There is a steam rally there this weekend so the roads may be a bit crowded.

- Boulder

P.S I'll join at William Loughran's

Thanks a lot to everyone who came along, glad that you enjoyed the route. What was that silver shoe box playing at Richard? I wouldn't have liked to have been 4 up in that car at those speeds on a motorway! Just what we'd been talking about an hour or so earlier! Paul, what happened? I thought you had the route written down as you'd Googled it? Anyway, let's try something like this again in August?

Not the best pictures (taken on my 'phone) but they'll give folk a clue as to why the Dales were reverberating this morning with the sound of an Italian rally legend... or summat.
