I'm looking to move from Worsley, where I'm living at the moment and as I work in Manchester City Centre I'm looking at Sale as a suitable area to live because of the good tram and train links.

Specifically I've found a house on Woodhouse Lane, 1.3 miles from Timperley Tram stop (which I would either walk or cycle) and another house on Firtree Avenue, 1.5 miles from both Brooklands and Timperley tram stops.

What are these specific places like to live? Obviously I want a trouble free existence with minimum amount of traffic and chavs. What is the proximety to local shops and pubs? Are there other places I should be looking?

I have had a drive round which can only tell me so much. I'm after some 'inside' knowledge of Sale!

Well as always, you get what you pay for. If I was to choose between the two locations it would be the Woodhouse lane one. closer to the trams and possibly a little quieter because it is a dead end I believe. I would also look at moving to the other side of Timperley station depending on how much money you have to spend.

Budget of upto £300k but ideally I'm looking for less than £200k with decent plots of land that I can modernise and extend. The two I've found are both corner plots with potential.

Hi avoid Firtree Avenue. You have to be on the other side of Manor Avenue.

I have a mate who has been trying to sell his house on Cherry lane for 18 months and if he was on the "right side" of Manor Avenue he would have had a more valuable property and it would have sold by now.

I recently moved from Westminster Close which is off Moss Lane. I part exchanged this house for something bigger out of sale.
Now we spent £70k on the house and we bought it for £312k 5 years ago, it is on the market at £295k and because it was a part exchange deal it is now sitting on the developers books and has been for 6 months. Could be a bargain.

It is a 3 bedroom with a huge conservatory and parking for 3 cars, it has no garage though.
Checkout the estate agents Gascoigne Halman in Sale.

It is in a quiet cul-de-sac and the neighbours are a mxed bag, I think I wound them up a bit with the development of the property. I will say that I have no financial interest in the property whatsoever.

This is a nice part of Sale and more modern than the generic Semis and detached built in the 30's.

Generally there is cash being injected into development along the A56 in Sale and there are lots of places to shop and decent curry houses. There is a Tesco local on Manor Avenue, as for a beer I don't know much about the boozers.

Hope this is useful.

I never said thanks for this. I'm still looking. The area around the Grammar school looks decent, quite leafy and good access to parks and green areas to walk the dog.

I'm looking at a place on Dalebrook Road, does anyone have any experience of this area? How close is it to the Wythenshawe council estate?

I know three people who live on that road, it is ok there, not sure about the distance to the estate you mention.

It seems nice enough from a quick drive through. I like the open areas of grassland opposite. I believe on the other side of this (to the east) its getting close to Wythenshawe and wondered if the great unwashed tend to hang around near there.
