I thought there was an existing PH (possibly lotus) meet at the other venue, just off the M65 near Hoghton - I think it's the Boatyard pub, but I could be wrong.

And as said, in addition to, not instead of Kirsty's Wheatsheaf meets.

Yeap Boatyard meet was the NORLOG lot I think. Last year they changed venues over winter though - I don't know if they've done the same again this time.

Regular Wheatsheaf meets will probably start up again once the clocks have changed as there didn't seem to be much demand for one at the weekend and meeting up in the dark in the evening isn't that much fun.

Hopefully we'll have some better weather this year smile

Sounds good to me, I think the clock change was the starting point last year as well.

Sorry, due to a few things - selling car shortly and workload/time away with my job, I won't be able to do the organising for the Wheatsheaf meets this year. I may pop up for a natter, but it's dependant on when/if I sell my sc, and when/if I replace her with something better.

The Norlog meet changes to the Watermillock in Bolton for the winter months. The next meet is next Wednesday, 4th Feb and it's always on the first Wednesday of every month.

Always plenty of Lotus but I for one would welcome something a bit different if anyone fancies it! I have a Lotus, he has a lotus, they have lotus, it gets a bit samey smile

Arrival time about 7:30 ish should mean you won't be the first people there, I'll be there is a lazer blue S2 Elise with black wheels if anyone wants to come and say hello.

So what's the script? There's been a couple of pubs mentioned, is this going to replace the Wheatsheaf or run alongside the Wheatsheaf please? Also, has anyone actually been in touch with the Boatyard to get permission? I reckon that they'll welcome the extra custom, although it's usually quite busy anyway, but parking for (hopefully) 20 extra cars may be an issue?

Nothing's been organised as far as I know, and it sounds like Kirsty's got her hands full at the moment, so she's not able to do it.

Are you volunteering...? wink

The Wiggin Tree on Parbold hill could also be an option,as there is easy access from the M6, (2-3 mins from J27) a massive car park, which on weekdays is usually empty, and no neighbours adjacent to the car park.Plus there are some cracking roads surrounding it.

I was thinking along the same lines as John7, why change from the Wheatsheaf. There's a good crowd that gets together at the Wheatsheaf, but obviously there's quite a few members from the Chorley/Blackburn/Preston areas that would like a closer venue.

As in a previous post of mine, I'm happy to travel down to the Wheatsheaf and I'm also happy to have a venue closer to home but (depending on numbers i.e. you lot who've been asking the questions) what are you looking for? Just a place to meet up & a pint, or meet up, seek out some lanes around the area and back again (like Kirsty's routes with the Wheatsheaf)? The Wheatsheaf was on the last Thursday of the month, so I'd propose the middle Thursday of the month at the new venue so as not to interfere with the Wheatsheaf. The reason for a midweek meet rather than a weekend is due to members with family commitments, although there will be a couple of "drives out" throughout the year which I've been working on which will probably be on a Sunday if there's enough interest. Speaking of venues, how about the Malthouse on the Chorley to Blackburn road? Again, 2 minutes from the M61, big car park, in the country. What do you think??? http://www.ukeatingout.com/north-west-england/the-...

So, just to re-cap:-

Middle Thursday of the month
Malthouse
Boatyard
Wiggin Tree

If we can have a clear answer by the end of the weekend, then I'll go and have a word with the venues manager, okay Mr Dibble tongue out

The Malthouse is a good call from memory (a while since i lived around there) you could head through Wheelton, Brincall, Belmont, Rivington, Limbrick for a bit of a circular route

That's one of the routes that I've got in mind.

Boatyard or Malthouse, count me and (probably) Diane in. As stated, plenty of folk in the area have expressed an interest. If we try it, it will sort out who really is interested. Mid month Thursday is reasonable too.

Any excuse to get the little Porsche out...
