Somewhere like the ACE Cafe in London, that is excellent for large gatherings and has a similar kind of heritage?

I'm trying to see if there's a Northern version

Sadly, not that I'm aware of. I've long been interested in the social history of the Ace and have visited several times. I suppose the closest that we get (that I'm aware of) are the popular biker meeting places: Devil's Bridge and Rivington Barn, although these places are somewhat different to the Ace...

A65 at Kirby Lonsdale.

You struggle to get one car parked in summer, let alone a group!

It's called 'The Cat and Fiddle' and you can't get in on a nice day for all the cars and bikes parked up there.

If anyone wants to risk a start up I know of a vacant pub with parking for about 100 cars a minutes drive from the M60 J23.

I guess it depends what we need. Rivington has great roads nearby, but I can't think of a pub / carpark up there for a weekend afternoon gathering...

Maybe something up Waddinton / Hawes way at a weekend?

Correct, but when I went for a meet there they were talking about a change in venue. I haven't been back since so I do not know what happened. Your best bet is to PM NW Tony.

We, www.scoobysmacs.co.uk, used to meet down Otterspool at the Hare & Hounds, http://www.marple-uk.com/pubguide/hounds.htm, but soon outgrew it smile
We've been at the Unicorn near Wilmslow for 2 years now, http://www.pub-explorer.com/cheshire/pub/unicornwi... which is unfortunately closed atm frown
So this month we met at the Honey Bee, http://www.vintageinn.co.uk/thehoneybeewilmslow/, which although having a fairly small carpark, was very welcoming for our little invasion smile

We've been known to do a meet at the cat & fiddle, but as already mentioned, it does get very busy with bikers. One place to try, with a massive carpark and some great roads with a central nw location is the Swettenham Arms, http://www.swettenhamarms.co.uk/, which is a really nice pub too!

Part of the fun of running the club was finding the venue, happy hunting! biggrin

Tan Hill is around 15 miles North of Hawes & has some cracking roads leading to it. Dave, Kirsty, Neil & I went there before New Year and were talking of doing a run in the Summer months. It's the highest pub in the U.K. & is also famous for the Everest double glazing advert.
