Sounds the right result as it would just be another tax on the motorist.
Rejected in all 10 boroughs by 3 or 4 to one.
About 1 Million votes received.

.....but does this mean that there now won't be any government money for investment in the public transport systems?

It looks like the public does have some common sense left after all. I'm so proud of you, Manchester smile

Hurrah!!! I can't believe it, I voted "NO", but at the back of my mind, I always thought the vote result is going to be a "YES"

Not just a 'no' but ‘no’ by a huge majority - possibly time to ask why they did not spend the money from the silly planning and that scandalous advertising campaign on things like busses and trains.

What a waste on money by a group of woolly minded people so out of touch with reality they though that they could bamboozle the real people who are Manchester.

Same here - I made a special 20 mile trip to the postbox within hours of the ballot paper dropping onto the doormat.
Shame the lentilists couldn't come out to vote in the cold weather we've had - all those opentoed sandals they wear y'see.

Now I'm just waiting for the government/council to make up some feeble excuses and overturn the decision.. wink

Thank god for that.

Would you like to be taxed even more for a currently none existent public transport system or use your nice comfy car? Erm scratchchin

I just hope they take this decisive result on the chin and dont attempt to sneak it through by other means.
