Ello!

Coming up to Liverpool this weekend.

Where is good for a night out? None of that clubbing nonsense, just some decent pubs/bars?

Probably go out on the Friday and the Saturday. How strict are the bouncers likely to be about trainers? I dont fancy taking shoes and trainers.

Thanks for any help!

Albert Dock has a few decent bars / clubs, also Concert Square area (off Bold Street) and Alma de Cuba on Seal Street - quite a few to choose from around there.

Mathew Street is OK (numerous bars) but can get a bit 'lively' with drunken teenagers and the odd scuffle. Worth checking out the Kappa band (free) who play in the Cavern pub from about 6pm on Saturdays, and Heeby Jeebies on a Suinday.

Trainers fine in most places but no shiny nylon shellsuits !!

Also, you have to be aware of the greatest danger in Liverpool...

...meeting Joey Barton on a night out ;-)

Looks like we'll be staying around the Albert Docks area then smile

Quite looking forward to it now!

All we need is for Liverpool to beat Fulham and the weekend will be close to perfection!! biggrin

Personally, unless you're bald/shaven-headed, shop at Ben Sherman, have loads of tats and like a fight, I'd steer clear of Mathew or Slater Street like the plague.

As has been said, Albert Dock is 5 mins away, so try Pan American, Blue or Baby Cream, then grab a taxi up to Alma de Cuba by St Peters Square or Modo by Concert Square. Plenty of wannabe-WAG's to have a laugh/blimp at round there.

Avoid the usual Walkabout/Lloyds chain nonsense if you can, unless that's your thing. And yeah, no trainers... Liverpool still has that stupid no-trainers rule to try and keep the scallys out rolleyes

Already been now!

But I'll bear that in mind for the inevitable next time.

We went in the pub next door to Premier Inn. The Stag and Rainbow, was alright in there. Earlier on when we walking to our room some girl asked us where we were going, so we just said to the pub next door, then she said to get a taxi to 'The Square'. A few beers later and we decided a taxi to 'The Square' sounded like quit a good idea biggrin

Ended up in Modo, which was quite good. Then some American burger place at 2am. Was a pretty damn good chicken burger.

I can't remember all the places we went to on the Saturday.

We left the Echo Arena and just sorta kept walking straight ahead. I'm guessing to the Albert Dock area? I think we might have gone past it, though.

We went to The Cavern, that was quite good in there.

Is there a place called Audio Club? I woke up with that stamped on my hand the next day. I have no idea where that was.

After leaving The Cavern, I can't really remember any of the other places we went to. Not because I was that drunk, just because I wasn't really paying attention.

I'll definitely be taking shoes next time. I thought the bouncers might take into consideration that we'd been to a concert, but they weren't having any of it biggrin

I'll be trying those places mentioned above next time, I'll actually have some decent shoes to take by then.

Was a really good weekend, cant wait till next time smile

Eddie Rockets - 2am Burger place by any chance?

I bloody love that place.

Yeah wear shoes on the Albert Dock, anywhere in town is fine with trainers though (I wear black ones though)

Liverpool is one of the best nights out by far, imo.

Ahh!! That sounds familiar. That chicken burger was soo good. Much better than the crap I had in the KFC in services coming back Sunday!

Yeah, my mate got in on the Friday with brown trainers, but then wouldn't let me in. They were white, and pretty shiny.

Bristol has a really good reputation for being a good night out, especially from students who come here.

It gets a bit boring going out to the same places, much prefer weekends away and seeing somewhere new.
