I used to work for AFL. Not sure what they do now but they used to do a bit of everything - housing to football stadia

Cheers Benny, I'll have a look. Our whole Architecture, design and surveying department has just been put 'on notice.'

Are we looking town centre or Manchester generally?

In town there is

HKR Architects
Fairhurst Design Group
Aedas
AFL
Halliday Meecham
Sheppard Robson
Broadway Malayan
Leslie Jones

These are just ones I've worked with, I guess it depends what drawings you specialise in and how many area schedules you are going to add up correctly... wink

I'm a Technician, about to be released into the free world from the cuffs of my current employer (not by choice but probably for the best!) so I'm after something quick sharp, well, within the next month or so.

Sorry to hear that mate. Have you thought about approaching an agency and going contract for a few months until something more permanent turns up?

Yeah, seems I am heading down the contract line. Got a few agents looking for permanant work and have 2 possiblities in Bolton and Burnley (bit further out than I'd hoped as I live in Worsley) but I can't be too fussy, got a car to run and a mortgage to pay!

Sorry for the delayed response but I only tend to look at the NW forum when I'm visiting my parents in this area. Have you had any joy? I used to work for EWA (Ellis Williams Architects, Wellfield, nr Warrington,) before I moved to the NE. They are just off the M56 which is 20mins form Manchester. Really nice bunch of people. No idea if they are looking to recruit at the minute, but they do a lot of education projects,so may not be as affected by the recession as the practices who do a lot of residentail work.

I've heard quite a few practices are trying to keep away form agencies becuse of the high commission fees, so it would be worthwhile sending some CVs direct.

Good luck with you search if you haven't already found something!

I've done some work with Sheppard Robson's London office. Nice people.
