I shelled out a fair chunk of cash on some really nice shoes the other day and having worn them a few times, I'm not sure the soles are going to last all that long.

I want to get some soles on them and wondered if anyone has got a recommendation of a decent cobbler in the city.

TIA

I ended up going to Timpsons on Deansgate. Not cheap, but they did a good job and my shoes have that lovely clippity clop sound now!

My Churches needed rewelting after having the leather soles replaced 7 or so times. They were sent off to Timpsons in Manchester who did an incredible job.

The guy on deansgate is very good, best in Manchester.
Sorted out new soles on my Jeffery West's, superb thick heavy duty sole.
Its also who Edwards of Manchester recommended to me,so they must good.
Like has been said before they are also slighty cheaper than Timpsons.

Thought for the moment -
A cobbler -he "cobbles " .
A shoemaker - he has the skills(experience /learning) to look at you're expensive shoes , suggest a repair ,then do it professionally (to him an expensive ,well made pair of shoes is a joy to behold). My dad was a shoemaker , trade taught ,college passed and of many years experience . This was his verdict . To him ,the trade was a curse ,but watching him , the art came out . Each hand stitch was precision ,each cut into the sole was precision .And the finish on a hand stitched sole was perfection .He could tell a sheet of leather by feel ,probably even giving it's qualities. So when someone says -"find a cobbler " - I'd say "find a shoemaker ,of distinction " - then you'll find the difference .Not many left -but when you find one - treasure him - there's not many left .As I said - ,like dad ,they're dying out ,litery
