Have moved back up from London and am in need of new rear tyres for a Boxster - 18" - and don't want to get ripped off - anywhere recommended??

Cheers

Give Dave at Selecta Tyres in Bredbury a call: 01614940915
Tell him Chris with the Subaru sent you and he'll do you a good price.
I've just had him fit some Falken 452's which I bought from Camskill, and I'm pretty impressed so far.

I've been using SW Autodesign (used to be in Hyde, now in Cheadle). They're not as cheap as getting from the internet (about £10 a corner more for fully fitted) but they claim to match any price and they fill me full of confidence - they deal in alloy wheels and thus they do a hell of a lot of tyre fitting. The equipment is bog standard but last time I went the MD balanced my tyres and told me one was goosed and he wasn't happy as he couldn't get it quite right (the alloy was warped). Drove home on it and the vibration level at cruise speed was barely noticable.

Anywho - get them to price match and mention that (if you speak to Chris) Dave with the white Porsche recommended them (might save me a few bob next time wink). They're on 0161 428 7578.

Thanks for the advice, but against my better judgement i'm getting a set of 4 pirellis N4s fitted at Kwik fit for around £600 - they have a 25% off offer on so it's a bit of a bargain i think

Cracking tyre the FK452 been using them on the Spyder for the last few sets and have been well impressed for the cost.

Kwik Fit? Do you hate your wheels?

Not yet... will be watching them intensely when they fit the tyres and any hint of one of those metal balance things and i'll be taking my business elsewhere..

Actually, although i am slightly concerned, my wheels do have markings on them from a previous owner and even though the car is my P&J it is an every day driver and has picked up the odd chip here and there...

Happy to report that i had an unbelievably good service at Kwik Fit - and at a great price too with their 25% off deal - wouldn't hesitate to recommend this particular branch... ended up chatting to the guy whilst he was fitting the tyres...

+2 Brilliant, just had a new set on my Cayene

ATS were good until they fitted some Mitchelins to my other Cayene and they lasted less than 6K miles and Mitchelin gave me a refund biggrin
