I've a standard Nissan 200SX S14a but have had thoughts to turn it into a road legal Track Day Car. I've recently killed a rear damper so now seems a good time to start taking some action.

So, does anybody out there have any experience or opinions on the best way to go with a Suspension upgrade that will be decent around a Track but still allow me to drive the Car there and back without shaking my eyeballs out of their sockets?

I have Nismo S-Tune on mine which are pretty much fit and forget. Add to this Whiteline anti roll bars, a pair of strut braces then get the allignement done and you will have a great set up.

You are welcome to a ride out in mine.

I have the same setup as Gary, but with R33 GTR wheels.

I think you are asking this question on the wrong BB though, go to www.sxoc.com and register on the forum. There are 100's of people on there using 200sx's on trackdays in the UK, and a fair few who are racing them in Time Attack etc so you'll get more information than you need! It's free to register and access.

S tune are good but lack adjustablility. Personally I'd go for a decent coilover. I've used K-sport and Tein. K-sports are very good, I've ran some seriously stiff stuff on the road and the novelty wears off fast, so don't go overboard on the springs, Bren @ Apex should be able to sort you out with bang on what you need for comfortable road spec and still decent on track.

Worth considering going for whiteline ARB's too, compliment eachother nicely smile

alternatively go for

KYB AGX (these are adjustable) and Apex springs - look on ebay for the AGX's they are a lot cheaper from the US if you want to take the chance.

This combination seem pretty good for road and they can be adjusted for track -

If going for coilovers also factor in the likelyhood of needing adjustable arms to get things back in line and a 4 wheel alignment.

Even the Apex 'comfi coilovers' can be too harsh for many of the 'moorland' type roads in this region.

good luck and refer to SXOC

Thanks all. I've gone for the Tein Super Streets and Whiteline ARB's.

do the super streets lower it out of the range of the standard toe and camber arms?

proper 4 wheel alignment is recommended

Well, I guess I'll find that out soon enough! They are height adjustable, though, so should be fine for now.

Thanks re the alignment recommendation. I'll definitely get that done once fitted.
