me and my brother have decided to go on a driving trip through europe, something ive fancied doing for a while now and spent about 3 hours yesterday planning and booking it so thought id share the plan with you guys.

it will be 7 days but havent calculated mileage yet.

we are going on the 24th of june and get back on the 1st of july.

ferry is booked through norfolk line to dunkirk and only cost £36 return sailing at 8am tuesday the 24th and and back at 8pm tuesday the 1st.

DAY 1

arrive in france around 9am and have a steady drive over to dijon via reims using the motorways. we are staying in hotel at dijon for the night which cost £46.

DAY 2

hitting the country roads now and staying away from the main motorways going over to a nice little town on the border of france and italy called annecy via bourg en bresse. 1 night here costing £46.

DAY 3

today will be a long hard slog straight over the border to france take the motorways and drive down to modena for 2 nights. we are staying in a town outside of modena called carpi. this is due to the fact that in the centre of modena its pretty expensive for somewhere decent and we want somewhere we can go for a drink and chill. cost for the 2 nights is £116.

DAY 4

this will be a chill out day going into modena visiting the ferrari/laborghini/pagaini factorys.

DAY 5

nice steady drive through modena over the country roads where ferrari etc do there road testing up to lago garda. staying here for a couple of nights where we plan on chilling up at the beach and having a few drinks. cost £89

DAY 6

ideal thing about lago garda is its ideally situated at the bottom of the alps enabling me to head out and have a full day over the swiss alps sampling some of the passes like furka/ grimsall etc.

DAY 7

we are heading over to geneva for the night as its breaks up the journey home back across france but unsure whether i will be heading over the alps again or just hitting the motorways. depends how knackered i am but have a feeling the alps will win. cost £45

DAY 8

the long boring trip home heading back through france back to dunkirk and home.......booo hoooo.

the total cost for the trip just for ferry and hotels is £375 based on 2 people sharing so £189 each.

this doesnt include tolls, fuel, food etc which i will try and calculate soon.

if anyone fancys tagging along they are more than welcome and i can give full information on where we booked etc.

roll on june smile
