Noticed yesterday car using quite a bit of water. Run car in drive and checked underneath. Steady trickle of water running down the engine block at the front drivers side. A close look and thought it may be the water pump / gasket. However closer inspection this morning pump / gasket seem fine.
Looks to be coming from behind the pump, poss Timing cover gasket.
car is a 400 chim W reg ( 2000 ) with 14200 miles on clock, is this poss on a car of this mileage / year.
As trackvroad in clitheroe service the car i am ringing them tomorrow in a view to taking the car up there to have done. However little worried about driving approx 30 to 35 miles while losing coolant.
Otherwise anybody know ant TVR friendly garages in the St Helens, Merseyside area and approx cost.

I use Mike Edwards Garage Services, and they are based in St Helens, actually part of the Pilkington Head Office complex on Prescot Road.

Although not specifically TVR specialists, they do look after some, and have serviced many plus Ferrari's and Porsches in the past. I used them to do my front 8 pot brake conversion, larger turbo conversion etc, and have used them for many years for servicing and trackday prep etc. They are also experienced engine builders. Very reasonable rates as well I find :-)

They will probably collect your car as well if you don't want to drive it, whereabouts are you based? I'm further along Prescot Road towards Hill Top (Carmel College).

Either speak to Mike or Steve Edwards, number is 01744 739233. They are friendly, nice car enthusiasts, and knowledgable, give them a phone for a bit of advice if required.

Thanks for the info scottie. I will give them a ring tomorrow.
I am based in Haydock, close to the petrol station at west end road.
Had my chim for approx 8 months and never any other problems.
Normally hardly uses any water only started having problems this weekend

Let us know how you get on, and the NW PH meet isn't far from you either, just half way down the Rainford By-Pass.

Rang the garage and a good chat, however he did say he was very busy and had a couple of big jobs on.
So rang trackvroad and arranged to have car picked up, only 50 pence per mile. They are going to pick
up next week so fingers crossed.
Noticed your forum name in the ` wheatshief ` thread. When is the next meet and what goes on.
Most probably pop down and see what going on.
Again thanks for the info most probably see you at the wheatshief
