Wirral question ?

near to deeside industrial park is this strange grassy airstrip that looks to be on a hill

does anyone know what this is.... are there good views from there ?



more generally, are there good views along the southern side of the peninsula through neston up toward teh marina at w. kirby ? I am looking for some good locations for car photography with long expanses of space in the background or any interesting spots so some local knowledge would be really helpful

would really appreciate any help

mostly with veiws across the dee from heswall/ west kirby. id be interested in meeting up and taking some pics?

No idea what that "landing strip" is but it looks like its on the MoD land. Not sure what goes on there now but when we were younger we used to drive across it on a single track road that led to Burton. When there was a red flag up we didn't go across as we assumed it meant "live fire" or something. May have been a load of b**locks though, we had no idea really! West Kirby is always good for sunset shots.

does it take long to drive the length of the peninsula cominh from say Chetser ?



and alex, thanks for the invite.. i may take you up on that although when we do this we might be a bit full on busy with drivers and tracking vehicles etc...

Yup. The first one is at the southern end. Didn't have a tripod unfortunately so they were all a little burred. The second two are at the northern end where the view behind is less obstructed if you can get a bit of space in the car park.

From Chester you're about 30 mins away.

I've also been thinking about the docks around Birkenhead for some interesting shots.

I see quite a few gliders over there, so I thought that might be where they take off from, but it looks a bit short for that. If you zoom right into all the nearby cars though it looks like they might be flying model planes?

I've always thought this would look awesome reflected in a car's body work, at dusk when it is all lit up. Not sure if you could get close enough though really. Plus you are likely to get shot these days for taking pics of a fuel depot.
