After three and a half years of it i just can't take it anymore.

To all the people using the M66.

Please can we just stay in one f***ing lane going towards M'Cr in the morning and when we're coming home if you are going towards Haslingden on the road to Rising Bridge can you get in the left lane early (at Ramsbottom ish) so we all don't have to slow down whilst you push into the queue coming down the hill which F***s everybody up.

I'm guilt of flashing the lights, or using German indicating, but if you stand on your brakes at 100yds before the junction and indicate left just be glad i've managed not to hit you......

Indeed, the turnoff gamblers on the downhill section have seemingly got worse over the last couple of years and the number of collisions in this section seems to be on the increase.

I wonder if the proposed new 50 mph limit from the Edenfield roundabout will have any effect? I'm not so sure, as it is a lane discipline problem rather than a speed one IMO, I reckon that if each lane was dedicated before the hill - ie: the left for turning off to Haslingden/Rising Bridge, the outer for continuing straight on to Rawtenstall it may make more sense. There will always be those who want to 'jump the queue' though I fear, resulting in the late braking cutting across scenario we currently have.

Also another point that is currently 'getting my goat' is the coned section down to Rawtenstall, I am at a loss as to the number of people who after the turn for Haslingden stay in the outside lane despite the signs warning of it coming down to one lane through the cones and swerving to avoid barreling into the cones when it does start to narrow down, a daily illustration of people being unable to observe and anticipate the road ahead. Also the number of people who have straightlined the newly constructed roundabout or even the approach to it -(check all the wheel tracks!), I know its new, but for gawds sake whereabouts are these clowns looking? Two feet infront of their bonnets??? Unbelievable!

oh aye, the New Hall Hey roundabout is terrible... a new collection of skid marks every day...

just image when both lanes open... how many more accidents will there be.
A friend of mine reckon he's going to collect someone under his trailer as theres no way he can make it round the roundabout keeping to his lane, without the trailer going over the kerbs, or straying over into the next lane - and he'll end up running over a car if it gets along side.

If it was you in your MX tonight i loved the way "moved" through the traffic smile but we still ended up at Rawtenstall roundabout together and i got someone brake standing in front of me in a people carrier at the usual spot furious

Only half throttle, tut tut. wink

I'm enjoying giving it the good old shoe on that bit at the moment, before hard on the anchors for the lights, great if they're green and you can take a swift sweeping line onto the big roundabout. thumbup

(It's a tad slidey on the exit of the new roundabout in the wet though - even more fun!)

I hope its better than that pile of cock that passes for art in the middle of the small roundabout near the new Tesco as you go towards Haslingden.

When I first saw it I thought a wagon had deposited its load in the middle of said roundabout.

Bobbins! Literally....

I have no idea how you all put up with the M66 towards Manchester in the morning and vice versa in the evening.I drive from Edenfield to Rawtenstall and am amazed at the queues on the othe side.

As for that new roundabout, what's it going to be like when both lanes are open.

It's great drifting sideways around the crash site, sorry roundabout, at the moment (a definate DSC off situation) but its going to be a pain when its piled up with Corsa's and Fiesta's every morning and night. I even saw a Range Rover Sport one night around Xmas with a great "V" in the front from the concrete barriers.

We PH's need a code for not going for the same gap.......

Hi Steve.

I come at the M66 from the other way at the other end biggrin, well the M60 towards Simister island. The filter lane to stay on the M60 (towards Prestwich) is almost useless at 4pm, I now just go straight to the roundabout and up the outside lane of the slip, much quicker.
