Far from being a haven for wittery on a grand scale the NW is probably about to get a reprive from the singularly largest experiment in stupidity since er well its incomparable actually. Bury council are to join Stockport and Trafford in giving the thumbs down to the Congestion theft scheme.

This should leave Sir Richard (dick head) Lease leader of the Cities Communist social engineers with pooh all over them. Having squandered millions just to put forward the worlds largest congestion creation and charging scheme, it looks as though they will be throwing tantrums and spewing green lies to justify their existance and addiction to Stalinist principles. However its a start along a long road back to sensible transport planning.

Nonners!!!!!! Nice to see you back (I'm sure you've been back ages I've just not been looking properly).

Do you get to any meetings anywhere?

Totally agree re the congestion charge. From Tyldesley into Manchester takes 2 trains or 2 buses or one of each. The car takes 1 car, 15 minutes and £4 for 3 of us..................not a difficult decision.

Although we have a noticeably significant contingent of demonstrably iredeemable scum about these parts, it would seem that the folk of this region are in the main, tax paying contributers and therefore share a common passion for the rejection of these socialist, 'final solution' type policies.

Unlike the hordes of 'minority' (though very much, now, majority) lackies for whom Livingslime and all his daemonic, leftist acolytes are the various, vile puppet masters, in and about London and many of it's boroughs.

Look at the constituents of D. Abbott and G. Galloway, for a flavour of the local population profiles cum local authority/quango employee cum locked in voter base and it is hardly surprising: the fantasies of these far left politicos, operating within the protective tutelage of Comrade Livingslime's feifdom - backed up by the pyschological 'egg on' of the most politically correct-compliant government of positively discriminating, Westminster nodding dogs (dogs to be interpreted in the most disparaging context, btw) to date - are inextricably linked via a self perpetuating symbiosis to these legions of manifestly non-British constituents.

Few on either side of this elector/elected fence have the remotest empathy for the requirements of private sector being, per se. Congestion charging is the clearest path to economic ruin but cloaked in an overtly aggressive garb and it's a red standard planted firmly in a battle line of their making.

Perhaps such rejections symbolise an end not just to Livingslime and his perplexing reign but a greater rejection of this last decade and some kind of symbolic nail removal from the UK coffin which was hammered further and further home from 1997.

Just out of interest, I take it this charge will also include the use of classic and older cars? I really have no desire to punt about in a modern car as I like the masochistic pleasures of driving somthing a little more unique.
I take it, dare I venture into the capital in a vehicle that Red Ken will no doubt class as a polluting old banger, I too will be anally raped with this charge, even though my car has a valid MOT certificate and in the eyes of the law is deemed roadworthy?

Why do we pay road tax? Why do we have an MOT? Why is this being allowed to happen?

I suppose I know the answers. It's just a bit depressing really.
