Any suggestions, want to luxuriate for a few days with some nice food and wine? Stayed at the Lowry and Malmaison already, any new ones worth looking at?

These are the ones I know of:

City Inn http://www.cityinn.com/manchester/ - next to Mal
MacDonalds Hotels http://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/manchester/index.... - just next to Pically Train Station
Aurora http://www.arorainternational.com/manchester/Arora... - near China Town
There is a new Hilton at the bottom of Deansgate.

Any good..?

You're starting from a high with the Lowry and the Mal' is not a bad second either. I think you will be disapointed with the City Inn and the Macdonald after the Lowry, the Macdonald especially has a very poor location. So I would highly recomend you check out Great John St http://www.greatjohnstreet.co.uk/ Very cool!

If you're driving a nice car though, the only hotel in Manchester to have a ParkMark rated secure car park facility is the Renaissance. A bit older in style to the aforementioned hotels, but a great location.

i'd say, take the train and stay at Great John St smile

Do you want to be city based? If not, there are a few spa type places on the outskirts (about 15/20 min drive to the centre).

Midland is pretty nice, not stayed there but had a conference a while back. Hilton might be worth a go if you haven't stayed there before, right next to the new Casino too wink

Can you let me know where etc, do not mind being slightly out of central.

Thanks

http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/mangs-marrio...

I stayed there a few weeks back, was in a club room which was ok - up in a loft conversion. My parents stayed in a suite there a while back, and said that is was pretty nice. The building appears to be a converted farmhouse & annexes (nicely done), food in the restaurant was slightly disappointing.

The pool is quite large, however is not exclusively for guests - when I went down it had swimming lessons on, but off peak times should be ok.
