I am located near Northwich and looking for a recommendation. I want to install a new audio system into my Elise as the standard one is beyond shocking. Nothing crazy, 4x new speakers and maybe some form of sub (it will have to be small)

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good car audio company near Northwich?

Yep. There is a range of slim line subs. I believe there are a few chaps in the Elise section of PH who have installed similar systems.

I use this car everyday so for the slight performance I may lost (marginal !) I am happy to add this to my car

You could probably get away with one of those Head Units that drive a sub by bridging the two rear channels, thus avoiding the need for an amp. An amp is heavy, you'd need somewhere to mount it, and there is a lot of cabling to do it properly.

If you go for an "infinite baffle" sub, you save the weight of a box as it operates in free air.

I'd go for very good head unit and components up front, with "infinte baffle" or free air sub rear. Think it was Genesis or somebody who actually made a pair of 6*9 shaped free air subs, which again could be run off a Head Unit using a low pass filter for the rear channels.

I had trouble finding any decent ICE specialists around the NW, found the level of advice was very poor, so ended up buying a book or two about it and teaching myself before doing my own installation.

I like Alpine Head Units, great for the price, outstanding sound quality and have in built features like high and low pass filters, plus you can get one with a powerful in built amp to avoid a seperate amp, probably not needed in your case.

The more simple you keep it the better it sounds, hence two way componets up front, and sub rear. That's all you need.
