Was at tesco today and they have stopped selling 97RON in preference for 99 RON. From memory it was 'only' about 96p/litre

I've been running my GTO TT on Tesco's 99 RON stuff ever since it first came out. No trace of knock, even with fairly high boost. It's not worth paying the extra unless you make manual adjustments to timing, airflow etc or your engine management system can benefit from and automatically adjust to it.

I use Tesco (Stockport) 99 in the 6.5 Cougar and the kit car.
I occasionally use Millers VSP for the valve seats and that is supposed to give another 2 points.
Before 99ron was available round here I used to use Lucas Octane Booster, it was the only booster I tried that actually stopped the Cougar pinking at std timing (10.5:1cr) WOT.

They have 99 in the Stockport one now? That will save my driving out of my way to get V-Power biggrin

Yes, sorry, always think of shell's super as opti....

Filled up on Tesco99 last night, cheaper than V-power, no ill effects this morning, looking forward to giving it a blast over the weekend.

Just checking, wondered if they still sold Optimax in some places smile I've got Tesco 99 in the tank at the moment and it feels about the same as V-Power in my car.

Filled up there with stuff recently and no ill effects. MUCH cheaper than the alternatives. Just don't go there between 5pm and 6pm... by the time you've sat in traffic waiting to get away you need to fill up again!

Just a heads up, but Tesco Wigan sell 99 RON, works just as well as Optimax in the C4 (offers minimal increase in power but the better MPG makes it work out cheaper).

My local Tesco has started selling the 99RON (Walkden).

Interesting feature - http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/tuning/Fuel_Tes...

Thanks for that link ^^^. I remember seeing the garage list months ago and there was hardly a garage outside the SE supplying 99. There’s even two about a mile from me now and I had no idea.

Just discovered it is in Sale now so it looks like a visit to the nearest petrol station is in order, the green energy site is lagging behind.

I went to the hooge great big off Tescos 24 hour store at Alfreton today for some of this. They don't even have a soddin' petrol station banghead

Thought we might be getting a decent Tescos at Belper too, but the antiglobalisation middle class envirocommunist Tescos are evil scumbags have set up a BATS campaign (Belper against Tesco). I wish these NIMBY scum had been about to stop the very houses they live in being built in the first place.
