I know this topic must have been done to death before but searching the Forum draws a blank.

Usual problem. I have a scratch on the rear near-side wing of my car where a bag caught it, it's quite deep at one end, about 4 inches long. I'm pretty fussy about stuff like this and want a really good repair.

Any recommendations for a mobile repairer? There are several Chips Away blokes in the area plus a number of other firms and I've no idea who to speak to, so if you know the name of one who's good I'd appreciate a recommendation.

From what I've been told Chips Away are only as good as the individual who you get.

If you're near Bury, have a look for Martin Brearley (Millet Street) or Apollo Motors (Merton Street).

Grotty places (well, Apollo's certainly is) but a superb job. Did a rebuild of an badly damaged SL55 recently and it came out sweet.

(And no, I've no connections to either, but happy to recommend them smile )

I've used a guy called Wayne from Scratch Master in Preston - 07717 721927. Did a good job on the wife's old A6.

I agree about Chips Away, there was a big thread on PH a while ago about how different outfits will vary, they don't even all use the same paint system.

Forgot to add that I'm in Oldham, Preston is probably a bit far but Bury could be an option if I don't get anything nearer.

Thanks for your responses.

I use a guy called Rob who owns a company Smart Tech, who specialise in paint repairs. The owners club I'm in for my car use this guy as he is well priced and does a good job, he's based near Manchester and I think can come to you as well. If I had to choose someone I'd use him, and trying to search for his details, company is Smart Tech and are based near Goldborne I think, am trying to find the website.

They come to you though, so I'd let whoever you choose decide if it's a bit far biggrin

I assumed it was like the Manchester ice-cream wars in 90s. Sray from your alloted patch at your peril. shoot
