A PH car detailed by Pure Detail
Discussion
Hi all,
In readiness for the summer season, I thought I'd get a few things sorted out on the car. The first step was getting the paint work tidied up.
There was the fall-out from a previous owner having a bump and dozens of stone chips, especially on the rear wheel arches.
I'd spoken to the likes of ChipAways who told me that I needed a full re-spray. So I mailed a few detailers from this site, but only got the one response, from Jonny at Pure Detail.
He came and saw the car and thought it was in pretty good nick, a lot better than he was expecting when I’d him about ChipAway's response. Due to the number of some of the chips he suggested a friend of his, to do a little bit of spray work, as he has a body shop in Preston and he would sort out the remainder.
I took this as an opportunity to get a few other things sorted as well. Some cracks in the front spoiler, remove the crappy old car phone antenna from the rear 3/4s, a dent in under the rear valance, repair a rusting wheel arch lower, etc.
Based on all this work, they quoted a very reasonable price. When I recall I was considering taking the car to Italy and getting the factory to respray it, it was an f gift.
The detail became a three stage job. Initial deswirl, 2nd stage and wax, and then once the paint has hardened a full wax.
Here are some pictures from the Initial Deswirl:
Of course, the deswirl was done at Jon's place, and it rained on the way home. So the following week the first thing to be done was to clean the car, then I'd asked him to underseal the wheel arches as well. Here are some pictures from the 2nd Stage work.
These are just a sample of some of the pictures, as I got a new toy, I can post more if anyone is interested.
The next work is to get the brake master cylinder sorted out then a few jobs on the interior and the final detail once the paint has gone off.
Oh and the final picture is of Jonny :
