As the title says I could really do with borrowing an engine crane. I need to get the engine out of my kit car (2L Pinto) because the clutch is knackered. This seems like a good time to do the engine swap I've been planning, BUT I don't have an engine crane. Would cost about £50 to hire one for a week (not much less for a weekend), and over £100 to buy. So since I'm a cheapskate, (and a poor one at that!), does anyone have one I could borrow? Please...pretty please...grovel grovel.

Dunno where you are, but I've borrowed one from my local motor factor for a nominal ammount before now. It's called Motorways in Alsager if thats any good to you?

Sorry folks, bit more info, I'm in Morecambe. If it'll fold up and fit in the back of a Saab 9-3 then I can collect it. Send us an Email Highflyer, as long as you aren't too far away I could pick it up, (with the proviso about fitting it in). Thanks for the offer, and all other replies.

I am near Wrexham, it will fold up but won't fit into the boot of any car, you would need a trailor, sorry.

Cheers C9, I've sent you an email. By the way do you know anyone who might want a 2L Pinto complete with 4 speed gearbox, (but knackered clutch). That's what's coming out.

If you are stuck you can borrow mine.

I'm just south of Preston.

Can't help you with shifting the thing, though. You would need something like a VX Astra van....

UPDATE.....

Decided in the end to just stump up the cash and buy one from Machine Mart.

So, if anyone else needs to borrow an engine crane, let me know, (when I'm not using it of course).

Yes, bit of a bugger to fit those castors, (first thing I did BTW). As far as the old engine is concerned there was someone on the locust forum/website who said he'd have it, but it's been a while since we chatted. If he's no longer interested I'll let you know.

Cheers.
Just spent the night trying to extract my old 2L from a dutton sierra, things have gone a tad rusty in 5 years.

Get a bigger hammer, and learn some new swear words.

Oh and make sure in future that the engine leaks oil over everything, stops it rusting you know.
