Between J24 & J25 (just about where you cross the Tame), clockwise.
Yep - they've put in a 50MPH limit.
What's it for? The road is straight - and how long do you need to slow down for the 'Bredbury corner'? (I don't lift myself but you can see that a truck might need to in the wet.)
Just freakin' unbelievable.

Here you go lads...
I've been going round this bend once a day for 8 years and never fallen off so how good must I be

Move to cut speed at crash blackspot
Alan Salter
A PERMANENT 50 mph motorway speed limit at an accident blackspot on the M60 has been extended by a mile, to give drivers more warning of a sharp bend.
Four people died last year on the clockwise stretch between junctions 24 at Denton and 25 at Stockport West.
In one incident, last April, two young men and a woman scrambled out of their car after a crash but died when it was hit by another vehicle.
And four months later, a motorcyclist from Hyde was killed when he hit the barrier on the central reservation.
New roadside signs have been installed, including an interactive signal which flashes a warning of the 50mph limit when drivers are going too fast. It is, however, not a speed camera and drivers will not get a ticket.
Highways Agency project manager Freda Rashdi said: "This scheme is designed to slow traffic to 50mph before it reaches the bend at Junction 25. This will improve safety and reduce the number of accidents at this location."
The three who died in April - Matt Weston, Melissa Boswell and Daniel Stewart - were travelling in a car which hit the central reservation and came to a halt between the middle and fast lanes, in April last year. They got out but their car was hit before they had time to run to safety.
Matt's mum Sue Heaps, from Bridgehall, Stockport, has given the extension of the speed limit a cautious welcome.
She said: "I am pleased that they are extending the 50mph zone, hopefully it will be an improvement. But I still think that something should be done to make the bend in the road less sharp."
Before last year's tragedies, there had been one fatality, two serious accidents, and 24 minor accidents between 2002 and 2004.
Brinnington councillor Colin McAlister - who last year dubbed the road the worst stretch of motorway in the country - said: "Anything that can help to put a stop to fatalities and alleviate other problems in the future is good news."
The 36-mile motorway ring road was completed in 2001, taking in the old M63 and M62 as well as a newly built section between Denton and Middleton.
Do you agree with the speed restriction? Have your say.

How the did they hit the central reservation?
It's a right hand bend.
Police evidence was to the effect that the car that crashed into them was driven by someone changing a CD.
So obviously a speed problem
Not to put too much of a fine point on it - but the day that stretch opened I went round that corner at 90 in a Cavalier. Could have gone faster but didn't know the corner or the limits of the borrowed car I was in.
Now you get a mile of 50 before you get to the corner.
And then you get 'reduce speed now signs'
How much disrespect can you generate for the law with such a combination?

To be fair, there have been a lot of crashes on that bend and I don't doubt a lot could have been avoided if people were driving slower. I dislike pointless speed cameras and silly limits as much as the next member but I think the 50 limit on that bend will actually save lives.
Oh will you edited out for being a bit OTT.
All accidents on the Bredbury corner are due to lack of care.
I'm no driving god but if I can manage it @ 90 in a borrowed Cav on the day it opens then obviously it's not speed that's causing the problem.
The unwary wits need warning that there is a curve; but a mile?
Truckers on ice can manage the corner @ 50 - anyone else not managing it is truly incompetent and shouldn't be allowed on the road.

I completely agree, but as we both know, there are a lot of "unwary wits" who shouldn't be allowed on the road. I can't remember ever driving the 10 minute stretch of motorway to or from work without seeing someone who either can't drive safely or for some reason chooses not to. I can live with a 50mph limit round a bend if it decreases the risk of one of these people taking me out with them.

I'm sure you know where it is - the rest of us will need more informationjaik said:

Well I must travel that section at a different time to you lot, I'd be happy if I could get round it at anything over 15MPH at 7.45 each morning.
In fairness I think the speed reduction may be partly there to stop anyone coming round it quickly and encountering the back of the rushour queues.Shame because its a cracking bend, just needs a bit of positive camber it appears a bit negative to me?????????
