Hi

Just bought my first TVR, a 99 T-plate Chimaera 500 - Loving it. The car needs two rear tyres, and to be fair I will probably just replace the full set as the fronts don't have much left on them either.

Can anyone recomend anywhere for tyres? I am based in Rossendale, but work in Manchester.

Pemberton Tyres in Wigan have always been pretty good to me, worth getting a price from them if nothing else. The petrol to get to Wigan from Rossendale might negate any savings however.

Used mytyres before and had a few delays and slow replies from queries but I think thats down to me asking for hard to source tyres more than anything.

event in chorlton next to traffod metrostation and gmp headquarters, close to white city shopping estate

will come to you or you can go there

google - event tyres as i don't have their telephone number - careful though they put the locking nuts on too tight and i broke two sockets getting them off so, leave them off if you go there the other nuts will hold the wheels on
until you can put them on

Use Black Circle for my Griffith tyres but mytyrers.co.uk also good and cheap. Both advertise on PH.

I am struggling with that too. I have a late model Chimaera 500 with PAS (which I have had for all of 3 days!), which according to the manual should be on 245/45/16 rear and 225/50/15 front (which it is at the moment), as opposed to the 225/50/16 and 205/55/15 on most Chimaeras. Struggling to find one brand in the correct rating for both sizes. I can get SO2s for the rear and Dunlop SP9000s for the front, but I can't get both front and back in the same brand. Tried the usual Balckcircle, MyTyres etc.

People do not seem to rate the S03s as much and bit warry about the Toyos as you don't seem to be able to get them in the correct spead rating. I know some people have put lower rated tyres on their cars, but I am not keen on doing this.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I put 4 Michelin Exalto Pilot's on mine, all correctly rated and very good indeedy. I think theres a bit of snobbery involving tyres and TVRs, certainly you want some good ones but I saw no reason why I shouldn't venture away from the usual suspects and buy something that was easy to find.

They were very sticky as well.

My sister got Bridgestones for her Griff from Stewart Wilson in Hyde; who sourced them directly from Bridgestone @ less than blackcircles etc could source them.
