Oh and for people who dont know they've jetted off to America with aletta's job Lucky things!
Hi y'all!
Thanks for all the goodbyes etc. This is the first time i've been on PH since getting here! Here being Warsaw, Indiana and currently under 7 inches of snow! A TVR in this weather would be most entertaining, especially on the frozen lake
Our current (rented) steed is a Hyundai Tucson suv with a 2.7l V6 auto. Good for getting about in on these 55mph limits and big roads but pants for everythingelse. What's more the best economy I get out of it is 20mpg I get that out of my chim on average! Still to fill the 15 US gallon tank costs only 30 dollars which is as cheap as fries... err chips.
Which brings me onto a technical question... they have different RON levels over here like we do, but these are only 87, 89 and 93. Are these figures derived from a different calculation method than in the UK? It does say on the pump 'using the s+m/2 method'. Is that different from the UK method?
When I get myself setup over here I think I need a Dodge Charger aka General Lee. We've not got the company car yet and still have no idea what we'll get. I certainly don't want a truck even though every other vehicle here seems to be one. Most of the cars are pretty awful (but you already knew that) and the europeans are understandably a lot more expensive. The new Dodge Charger saloon seems ok though - would be nice to have one with a Hemi
Aletta and I are returning home for xmas (we arrive xmas eve). She comes back to the US immediately after New Year. I don't know how long I will be hanging around for at the moment coz I will need to sell my beast asap and may want to stay for the derby game on the 14th Jan. I'd like to meet up with you all at some point and kind of do a farewell drive in the 450.
I'd love to have it over here. The Lake Shore Drive that goes around downtown Chicago (2.5hrs away) would be brilliant. But it doesn't make financial sense to export it for the 1.5-2 years we'll be here. Plus I'd be even more fustrated than I am now having to drive along a wide, empty, 10 mile straight road at 60mph, when I could do 150mph safely The cops are very sharp here with their lasers - they have nothingelse better to do as crime is low in this here bible belt state.
Ricardinho & Aletta
PS Raf_dug: I hear you're looking for a chim? Mine is about to become available. Look at my profile for pic. Email me if you want to know anything, but people like nonners and jess can tell you a bit about it I'm sure.

Hi, Dougie seems to be in the bin at the moment, he sends his regards and says, nice car but he is looking for either a year 2000 chimaera or a 98 cerbera, but he seems to remember Lois's Dad was looking for a chim about 6 months ago.
Hugs Dawnyxx.

Yes that's true Dawn. We got a new kitchen instead though

Thanks for that Dawn. I hope Dug finds what he is looking for.
Lois. You bought a kitchen instead!!?? Dear oh dear oh dear. That's not worthy of comparison with having a beautiful v8 beast in your garage. Me thinks your Mum had a lot to do with the decision. I'm appalled.
Ricardinho
I hope Dawn doesn't try to make me buy a kitchen instead of a car, in fact I know she won't thats why i've been married so long.
