I can answer my own question now...sTeVeR says it should be on but if not he will either post here or leave instructions at the Stamford Arms...so just turn up as usual

Its on. It is ALWAYS the second Tuesday of the month - has been for years. With the good weather I expect there will be a strong turnout at the Stamford Arms.

Do say hello to me - I have the Crystal Topaz Tuscan - reg TUS 373. We have more people than ever coming along and its good to get to know more people as well as say hello to the same, sometime very old, faces!

Hope thats not my face you are referring to Bryan but if it is it is. UPDATE just been to the Stamford Arms and despite assurances about 2 weeks ago that the place will still be open it isn't. Tomorrow nights meeting will be transferred to the old venue (under new/old management----the lady who was managing the Stamford Arms when we moved ) THE SWAN WITH 2 NICKS--- yes I know we were treated like s**t before we moved but a) its easy to redirect at VERY short notice and b) its under new and familiar management and c) the car park has been resurfaced and lighting looks imminent. This need not be long term but if you have any suggestions ( and not your local please unless it ticks all the boxes ). I will gladly investigate with a view to a permanent move. Please be aware that this is a BIG region and the M56 corridor seems to be about the best general location. I am sure Mr Cleverley will bear testament to the damage to my liver last time we were forced to move-- a lot of serious drinking and testing of facilities has to be done and I have already done a few weeks research. So please tell as many people as you can about the temporary change of venue and I will post notices at the Stamford Arms to redirect to the Swan hope to see you all at the Swan sTeVeR

I'll try and make it tonight - no reason I shouldn't unless the weather takes a BIG turn for the worse.

As a suggestion for another venue, Mascrat Manor on Jct 21 of the M6 has a huge car park and is only a few minutes down the road from your current location.

Just make sure that its not the same day as another car club meet as I've been to several Lotus meets on the same day as the MR2 club meet and it can end up fighting for spaces.

Steve - you are not THAT old if its of any consolation. If have seen some very senior citizen TVR owners turn up before now - white hair seems to be the order of the day (sorry George)! I was just extending some hospitality to those I don't know but haunt the PHs site.

Should be a good night tonight - 40 cars or more maybe?

WOW that was a lot of TVR's. The meeting will be at the Swan for the immediate future, unless anyone has any better ideas. It may take a month or two for the venue change in the TVR sprint magazine so please tell anyone who was not there tonight of the arrangements sTeVeR

How about asking for more bar staff next time?

I think we took them a bit by surprise but I couldn't agree with you more. When you are paying ALL the money and more for drinks( and they knew we were coming because they phoned me several times to ask us to go back to the Swan)and they employ 2 bar staff who don't even know who they are then you and I have cause to be unhappy. I am not convinced they deserve our business ,and apart from 2 or 3 months of the year we are their business on a tuesday night but there has to be an alternative. I have spent too many nights over the last 6 weeks and can't find anywhere better. Perhaps the answer is not to complain here on the internet but to voice your displeasure to the management on the night, that way they will know rather than only those who visit Pistonheads

Agree on the bar staff front. They didnt appear to be rushed!

However on a positive note, the grub was top drawer.

What great meeting - looks like just about everyone turned up last night. I got alot of answers to some buring questions too (thanks Alistair). Highlight of the night was burning off a DB9 on the M56 slip road ( I kid ye not ). He should know that his 'handbuilt' British car is no match for a eh, handbuilt British car.

I cannot really help on the venue front - looking at the number of cars that arrived last night, a major constraint is going to be having enough space for everyone - and finding somewhere that has the staff to cope with a sudden mid-week influx of punters. Another good think about the Swan, is that is quite easily to find for people who have not been before. Will give it some thought.

As well as the massive queues for a drink, the car park was awful.

It is small and has a narrown entry/exit and imo isn't a very good location for a meet.

As we drove away there were 3 or 4 cars in the car park of the Stamford Arms and some people sat at the front having a drink - are we sure it wasn't open ??

Maybe its because I post infrequently, but my suggestion of Mascrat Manor had nor responses, neither positive nor negative.

It has lots of parking spaces and its dead easy to get to as it is on a motorway roundabout.

I can't help thinking that if we keep parking that many cars at the Swan with 2 Nicks, its only a matter of time before one of the cars ends up getting damaged, as nearly happened on Tuesday.

I think the pub were caught on the 'hop' as they may have expected us, but not the numbers. If as was said the food was good then as long as the lighting is installed I can see no problem with the Swan. It is always a problem to shift a venue for so many people and you cannot please everyone.

The British summer is so short and 'some' owners are fair weather visitors. That most of the year we do not get that turnout. (lets say we get two meets with that number).

I managed to get out (from the very back with a packed car park) with only one car having to move, and that was only as it would have been a bit tight and I thought better safe than sorry).

Elizabeth

As Brian predicted there were 39 cars there.
