Interesting Lancashire art book
Discussion
As I had a bit of time to kill the other day, I decided to have a nosey in Waterstones. Thought I'd check out some old history books of the North West and Lancashire and one book stood out which was by an artist who uses acrylics to draw period scenes showing street scenes with lots of period motors and vehicles. Intereztingly, there were also artistic renderings of modern scenes showing modern vehicles and people, something I've never seen before.
Places included: Blackpool, Blackburn, Bolton, Fleetwood, Southport, etc. Scenes from the 1900s, 1920s, 60s and today. One painting in particular was of Lord St, Southport depicting a modern scene of the boulevard, but interestingly the artist showed a green Aston Martin DB4. No idea if the artist drew this from his imagination or from observation, but there can't be that many Aston Martin DB4s that are parked up along Lord St in Southport. It looked exactly like the one that regularly attends Ormskirk Motorfest.
The artist also drew a couple of scenes of classic cars at a local show.
Interesting read with some incredibly beautiful artworks. The book was by John Chapman.
