Popped down to the annual classic car show in St Helens on Saturday. Nice turnout of motors of all kinds, 70s/80s Escorts, Morris Minor, Triumph TR4, etc. A prestige E-Type roadster caught my eye in an unusual and rare willow green. Owner has owned it for about 10 years and only had about 2 owners. First time I've seen this particular E-Type there or at local shows. The RS Turbo and Escort were up on ramps at the rear showing off their superclean and shiny exhaust (and engines) for the attention of the gawping chavs and boy racer crowd. Not my idea of a classic car.

I don't know why this event gets very little mention on here.

I live in Eccleston and didn't know about it, I don't think its advertised well. I don't recall seeing anything on the St. Helens Star website. To be honest I went out for an early drive anyway on Saturday so wouldn't of gone anyway, still would of been nice to know just in case my car didn't start!

Out of interest, where about is it held?

No, but organisers (and clubs) have to try to entice younger people, and newer stuff is a way to do it.

Truesmile. Not my cup of tea but the RS Turbo looked really nice though. One of my cousin's who lives in Wigan owns an identical looking car. I'm surprised his wasn't there, but maybe h doesn't know about it.

It was held in Church Square (I think it's called that) in the middle of the Hardshaw Centre in the town centre. Been held for a few years now. I believe there was an Aston Martin DB5 there one year as I'm sure I remember seeing a photo of it somewhere. I wonder who owns that, can't be someone local lol.

Theres also a Earlestown classic car show which I only discovered when I saw a video on YouTube as I was looking up the St Helens show.

The cars on Sat were:

blue AC Cobra (kit car of course). Everytime see a Cobra they are nearly always blue for some reason; must be the most popular colour.

Triumph TR4 or 5.
White RS Turbo
Orange Ford Escort MK1 (I think), not sure if it was a Mexico though.
Morris Minor
MGB
Jag E-Type series 1.5 roadster in Willow Green with white rim tyres. RHD, but I think most in that colour are LHD and reside in the states and Canada. Apparently was Jaguar founder William Lyons' preferred colour for the E-Type.
vintage MG
Mini's
Toyota of some kind
And I forget the rest

Edit:

Here is a photo of the DB5 I found from the 2012 show.

According to the uploader of said photo it is a replica, though DVLA has it has an Aston Martin (and sorned). I can't see it being a "replica" per se more a rebody, unless he's just meaning a Bond Aston DB5 replica with all the gadgets etc using a "regular" DB5 Vantage?. Shame it wasn't there last Sat. Love how the photographer has captured the reflection of a series 2 FHC E-Type in its bodywork.
