VW Beetle meet at the Prince William in Dalton, West Lancs
Discussion
I'm just wondering does remember the local Beetle club meet held at the Prince William pub in Dalton nr Parbold, Lancashire around the late 80s and early 90s?. My dad used to attend this meet fairly regularly from the late 80s til around 90/91. I've no idea who the names of the members were only that they used to have small meets in one of the rooms.
Thanks for that. I put that photo on Wigan world. it's actually a screenshot from a home video, not much else on it apart from two blokes talking about my dads newly acquired Land rover series 2 he turned up in (and his new video camera) and a car park full of Beetles, of which most of which will have been sorned and scrapped a long time ago.

No idea how long this meet lasted for, but I presume they no longer have meets there. The place seems like a good place for a general classic meet, quite a large car park in a nice area. My dad had a 71 Beetle which went from being pale blue, then in the mid 80s he decided to go a bit boy-racer esque on it and took everything off (bumpers etc) and replaced them with those large bumpers, added larger rear lights, added a few stripes and had it panited a combo of silver and brown; looked quite attractive actually and it stood out from the crowd at the time.
After he got too old and bored of it he had it resprayed black, taking all the panels off and restoring it back to standard, all done in my grandmas back garden during the summer using just a spray gun and some rust proofing stuff. Proper DIY home resto and no need for some expensive resto job

Glad to hear your Beetle was on that photo I uploaded...well it was actually a still shot from our home video when my dad had just bought his brand new Sony Handycam Hi8 video camera (do people even use video cameras these days as everyone I see just films everything off their camera phone) and his newly bought Landrover series 2 (he still owned his Beetle at the time) and showing it off to the envy of the lads.
Tbh, the lads that came to the meet where more your typical boy racer scallywags than serious enthusiasts, mostly in their early 20s.
