I'm not altogether sure you are serious
Ambleside along with Bowness is the epicentre of the Lakes
Very busy ., everything from chip shops to Michelin stars
Trendy bars to old fashioned cosy pubs
Little hills and some quite big hills
I'd suggest TripAdvisor may be your friend as without knowing you it would be hard to Know what to advise

I'm after some recent local knowledge, especially regarding restaurants and pubs. Walks I can sort out from the interweb and they don't change much from year to year.
But eating out is a different matter. I've done a few Michelin starred restaurants and wouldn't mind eating at others, but it's also useful to know if any of the pubs serve great food or are just microwaving Brakes Bros offerings. It's also useful to know if there is anywhere that should be avoided.

...I would personally avoid the Ambleside honeypot and it's pubs.
For posh try the Gilpin Lodge between Windermere and Kendal. Pubs wise, the Mason Arms at Cartmell Fell is not as good as it used to be but has one of the best veiws in the Lakes, The nearby Hare and Hounds Bowland Bridge, the Brown Horse near Winster also good.
A little further afield the Hawkshead Beer Hall at Staveley is superb and the Eagle and Child at Staveley is also very good.
Britannia at Elterwater - okay but busy and food average. Nearby however the Three Shires is great.
Go to Eskdale for the real Lakes - fantastic pubs, quiet and beautiful. Broughton in Furness even better - unspoilt and wonderfull pubs but keep it to yourself!!

I live up here, don't go out much these days but this year been to Gilpin Spice for Asian food, really liked Forest Side too, both have one star. Fizzy Tarte is good for a sandwich and cocktail or afternoon tea, posh cafe essentially that turns into a bar in the evening.
I have walked most of the Fells, mostly in the North so if you want any help let me know.
