1st January 2017...The Corner House, Wrightington...
Discussion
Haven't seen anything posted to the contrary, so I'm assuming the first run out of 2017 to The Corner House on the morning of 1st January is still on. The Corner House appears to have taken over from the 1st January meet at Briars Hall in Ormskirk, although I know a small group of stalwarts still meet here...

Where is the post about the Briars Hall meet? Just I am over that way on the 1st. Parents live in Ormskirk Briars Hall:

They are just over 7 miles from each other, so pretty easy to visit both!

I would suggest the Corner House and get there by 9.30 - 9.45am so you get a decent parking space. If it's anything like last year, it was packed. It's all over by lunch time, so not much point in getting there late.
Edit...It's raining, this could make a big difference to how many turn up.

No rain, wet roads though, PACKED by 11am, double parked, blocked in etc, loads to see and people to catch up with :-)
Regular meets start again in April, 1st Sunday of the month.
Surprised to hear there was such a big turnout considering the time of year and the weather we had this morning. It shows many classics are still out and about this time of year. Any nice or interesting motors?. I know last Sept meet (I think) there was a gorgeous red series 1 e type roadster which I only realised later was the same E Type that was restored in An E Type is Reborn, presented by Mark Evans. Never seen it since at that particular meet.
Any pics?. Isn't the next meet in March?

How come no one ever updates the Facebook page with recent photos and posts, etc (or on PH for that matter)?. Would be nice to see new updates on there. Pity there aren't many other general classic car meets in the area as I'm sure there are great venues which would be ideal. The Prince William pub at Dalton would be a good place for a meet with plenty of parking space; there used to be a VW Beetle club meet up there many years ago. There's also the Wigan Classics Meet at Gathurst station.

I attended this morning. Arrived just after 9.30 to find around 10-15 cars in the car park. Had a yummy bacon bap inside and stayed till about 11 watching the cars arrive.
However, curiosity got the better of me so set off for Briars Hall to see what was going on there - bit of an excuse for a drive too :-)
At Briars Hall there only appeared to be around 10 cars - all of the Model T type era along with a bunch of scooters so didn't even get out the car. Since I'd seen plenty of cars going the other way on my journey there I decided to take a slight detour and revisit the Corner House on my way home. This time I couldn't get in the car park so just had quick look then home.

I arrived there thismorning about 9.30, thought it may be empty due to inclement weather but to my surprise it filled up quite quickly. Took the Z4 at didn't fancy hypothermia in my Atom. crackin turn out with a lot of open cars with no heaters, braver than me. Fabulous looking WO Bentley and even a veteran made an appearance.
Cant wait for some nice warm weather to see this meeting flourish as it does when warm.
So good to see so many classics out even when there has been so much salt on the road
