Best Route to Bromborough, The Wirral from the North East
Discussion
Not sure if this is the place to ask....!
I have to travel to Bromborough in the Wirral for 9am and will be driving down from Co Durham.
Apparently it is quite near the south end of the Mersey Tunnel.
I have never been to Liverpool before, so wondering which is the best way to go bearing in mind I have to get there for 9am.... rush hour traffic etc(!)
PS I do have a TOM TOM but prefer to use local knowledge !!

Just had a look at this route purely as a matter of interest, using Durham as point A and Bromborough as point B.
Not a trip I'd fancy to get there at 0900.
Google maps sent me across through Barnard Castle/Kirkby Stephen and onto the M6 at Tebay. No idea what the traffic's like there, so seems OK so far. However, it then sent me off and down the M58, entering Liverpool from the Bootle side and going through the tunnel. Traffic will not be good there. An alternative would be down the A1 and across the M62, then battling the roadworks between J20 & J12 heading for Liverpool or, possibly quieter, coming off at J20 on the A627M and then following the M60 to the M56 for the airport then onto the M53 and into Bromborough. No tunnel this way either.
Let's face it, you'll be leaving home at 0500 or close, and I doubt you'll make it on time even then. If it were me I'd be setting off the night before, staying over somewhere and arriving fresh on in the morning.
ETA: Beaten by the gentleman above who had a similar idea.

Thanks to both. I prefer to use the M6 as it is easier from the North East so may give that a try; I reckon whichever way I go it will be very busy so I will leave early!!
Appreciate your posts & thanks again.
I used to do this trip almost every Sunday at one point. Once, I managed Bromborough to Stockton in 2 hours flat. Used to enjoy the A19 in the early hours!Appreciate your posts & thanks again.
