Hi all,

This is a bit of a long shot but does anybody have any photos of the Southern Brothers Austin/BL dealership on Manchester Road in Bolton?

I'm trying to put a bit of history together on my '68 Cooper and that was the supplying dealership.

It's strange as just like me the car was born in Lancashire and ended up moving to Essex!

Amy help much appreciated,

Matt.

Oh, and I noticed it is mentioned in the 'Old NW Car Dealers' thread.

I did manage to find two grainy images online but more would be great.

Try the Halliwell Local History Society , they have thousands of old photos from Bolton. They have a website and they maybe able to help. Then try the Bolton news website, they often post old pics of Bolton in the newspaper.

Great pointer, thank you. I'll give the Halliwell Local History Society a shot.

I did find one of the pictures with the Bolton News but they charge quite a sum for copies.

I know this is an old thread but I am one of the last three Southerns who worked at Southern Bros on Manchester Rd. At the time your car was supplied the dealer principal was Percy Southern (Thin Percy) who was my father's cousin (also called Percy but Fat Percy). In 1970 Thin Percy died and my father became Group Chairman. Somewhere I do have photos of Manchester Rd but from the 1970s. If you are still interested (long shot I know) then my email is rogersouthern@manx.net.
