Where to park for Manchester City centre shopping?

As title really! Not been shopping in the city centre of Manchester before and fancy a trip out, but have no idea which car parks will be my best bet. Can anyone advise?

I usually park on the old strangeways brewery site, only a few mins walk from the Arndale. Think its £3 for the day.

All depends on what direction you're coming in from. I used to park under G-Mex, but the spaces are a bit small and it's quite dark, so I park in the new one across the road now. Pricey, though - I'd like to find somewhere else as it gets up to a tenner quite quickly. Last time I went on the train - £12 for the return ticket, £3.50 to park near the station at this end, that's probably less than the fuel would have cost before you take into account parking in Manchester. No good if you're buying a lot though.
