Hi posting here at the suggestion of someone in the Lounge. Having looked at the map, Perhaps North Wales too.

Hi, in a couple of weeks I have an appointment in Knutsford.

I want to stay over the night before and am looking for somewhere nice but not too exensive.

I fancy somewhere on the coast - not Blackpool.

What I am after is a place with a good few pubs where me and my wife can have a couple of beers, a decent choice of unpretentious restaurants - fish and chips would be fine, and a nice hotel with somewhere to park the MG safely..

Village pubs, B and Bs Hotels - all fine with us.

Any suggestions from NW PHers?

Cheers.

Lytham is nice, my favourite coastal getaway.

Lytham to Knutsford will be a trek though, especially if you're travelling in peak times. Probably a two hour journey.

Knutsford has some good restaurants, and Cottons is quite a nice hotel but you'd need a taxi into Knutsford town

I personally would look at going to Wales, because the traffic along the A55 back towards Chester and subsequently, Knutsford, would be comparatively light. Somewhere between Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Conway, and the morning drive to Knutsford shouldn't take much more than an hour!! HTH.

This ^^^^

I can't think of a single seaside resort close to Knutsford that's nicer than Knutsford itself. Personally, I'd stay in Knutsford, Cheshire has a very high density of lovely country pubs.

Try West Kirby or Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula. Couple of hotels or b&b's to choose from and some nice places to eat. just under an hours drive from Knutsford.

I'm sure the Woolybacks would love to say that Hoylake and West Kirby are in Cheshire, but they're not, they're in Merseyside.

Kingsland lodge wilsmlow is a converted house into a super cool b and b. v nice, The wizard, a pub in Alderley edge is lovely. You can park the car if you like walk up there. Top draw. Or if you want the corporate experience The mere hotel and cc has a new hotel and it is beautiful. Souless but beautiful. Try mobberley or chelford they have some fab places. Place called the church in mobberley is a game pub, pheasant, tprabbit etc etc. all fifteen mins from knutsford. Forget the seaside its february

Cheers for all the advice. Have booked into the Rose and Crown in Knutford. A friend used to live there and thinks its the sort of place I will like.
