Hi, in a couple of weeks I have an appointment in Knutsford.

I want to stay over the night before and am looking for somewhere nice but not too exensive.

I fancy somewhere on the coast - not Blackpool.

What I am after is a place with a good few pubs where me and my wife can have a couple of beers, a decent choice of unpretentious restaurants - fish and chips would be fine, and a nice hotel with somewhere to park the MG safely..

Village pubs, B and Bs Hotels - all fine with us.

Any suggestions from NW PHers?

Cheers.

Advice when anywhere near Merseyside.

Look after your wallet.

If you've got wheel trims, leave them at home.

If you've got alloys, make sure you've got good locks on.

Don't be see reading The Sun.

Actually, the bit about The Sun should just be Don't read The Sun anywhere.

Thats why my post was about the Merseyside coast and not Liverpool! :-)

I shall post in the NW section. Cheers.

Lytham is nice, my favourite coastal getaway.

Lytham to Knutsford will be a trek though, especially if you're travelling in peak times. Probably a two hour journey.

Knutsford has some good restaurants, and Cottons is quite a nice hotel but you'd need a taxi into Knutsford town

We are making the trip down from Newcastle. Easily done in a day, but I just thought it would be good to stay somewhere for a bit of a night away.

I am taking my MG down to get some work done on it - so I really don't want to park it up in a big city unattended overnight.

I thought of staying in Liverpool but was put off my a Scouser mate of mine who told me to visit by train. At 43 - I have been to Europe, Africa, N and S America and Asia - from the Arctic circle to the south of the Falklands and from the Pacific coast to the Levant - but never to Liverpool.

Something I must address.

Try Formby then. I can't recommend any specific hotels but the area itself is nice, and there's a beach.

Try Formby hall golf resort & spa , if you're going mid week you'll get some good deals , the wife could spend the day getting spa treatments.
Cheers Keith.
Bye the way, there's a lot worse places in this country than Liverpool !!
