What was everyone's first car and do you still have it now ?
Also suggestions for a first car i'm 17 and so i have a low budget.

Mine was a Mk2 Cortina, 1968, metallic Bronze, Price £75.00 in 1982.

Whatever you get the cost of the car itself will not be the expensive bit, but I am sure you know that already!!! Try to go for something slightly left field as the insurance record may be better and thus you MIGHT get a cheaper insurance quote. I saw a thread recently about a young lad who got a Skoda, might be a good shout.

Something else I discovered when looking for my daughters car, a brand new Fiat 500 can be insured for half the price of a £1500 Corsa. It worked out we could have financed a new car and paid the insurance monthly for the same price as just the insurance on said Corsa when one of the cheap finance deals was on. Might be something worth considering.

Have to echo what you said about the fiat 500.
Was looking for my daughters 1st car last year. Everything was a fortune to insure, apart from a fiat.

Added her to our multi car policy which had 4 months left to run. Come renual time she had 12 months NCB. I now have a 17 1/2 year old with a years No Claims.
Result.

Thanks for everyones help, I looked at the fiat punto previously and the insurance was about £1500 so I think I'll have a look at the 500 now. I heard that Nissan are a good manufacturer for reliability but don't know how expensive they are for insurance

Poo Browm Mk 4 Ford Cortina 2 LTR GL, reg POI 9338. Bought for £600, a year later it was sold by my farther for £600 and was told to use that money to get a driving licence, bah!

Peugeot 106 1.1 Zest 2 for mine, in white when it wasnt fashionable!

Only 12 months old and paid just under £5k for it, and £2k ish for insurance (this was in 2001). Second year, insurance dropped to £970.
