I've just received a call that I'm likely to be posted in Heysham for a few months. Can anyone advise any places to look at for easy access? There's obviously morecambe and Lancaster but ideally I'd like a self catered lodge or something somewhere and not have to flat share.

Cheap is good as it's Monday to Friday.

Plenty of Static caravan sites around which will do short/long term lets, there's Regent, Ocean Edge (which is next to power station), Westgate, Riverside, to name a few.

The commute will be a lot easier if you are Morecambe side of Skerton Bridge as it can take 30 mins to get from Lancaster to Morecambe at peak times, there's also sites at Hest Bank, Bolton Le Sands and Carnforth which are all under a 15 min commute to Heysham.

Be aware that Morecambe is not a nice place for a night out or anything else much, Lancaster is great and Kendal and the lakes are only a short way away.

A friend of a friend owns a B&B near the port. I've text my friend to find out the name of it and i'll let you know.

I'm not sure on costs but I know that most of her customers are project work types that only stay Monday to Friday.

I stopped in the Port House for a week whilst having some work done on the house. Great place and was handy for work for me.

To the OP. Tewitfield Marina, although about 12 miles from Heysham, is absolutely fantastic. You won't get stuck in any traffic either.

Headsup, traffic from Lancaster to Morecambe/Heysham is currently taking about 40-60 minutes to cover all of 6 miles. This is mainly due to the link road being put in that will eventually link the M6 to Heysham Port, but there's only really one route in and out

Lancaster's much nicer than Morecambe, parts of Heysham are nicer than both. Look for somewhere around The Old Hall area: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Old+Hall+Inn/@...

The pub's good, the area is nice to be in and you should be far enough away from the holiday caravans
