Does anyone use the access road to the hotel on the A49 to get onto the M6 North bound. ( Days Inn PR7 5LR )

I'm not asking about the legalities , just if it is actually possible

I pass this about 5.00 am most mornings and see quite a few vehicles using it . I'm assuming it's possible but I don't want to risk doing it until I know for sure , the last thing I want is to be trapped in the hotel car park with no way out due to the automated barrier / bollard system.

If it is possible are there any height restrictions which would prevent a medium sized van getting on the M6

I do both north and south bound. I quite honestly cannot see why we are not allowed to use these exits and entries. Saves on congestion and wasted miles. Never had an issue with using them and only once saw a police car and was earlier enough to get back up the hill and Go the long way round.

I use both regularly. Occasionally local plod will park up and make people turn round however the traffic boys don't seem to mind, have had them give way to me at the barrier several times.

I used to use it when i worked in Preston and cut through some days.

Only got questionned once and i just replied that i was on my way to the hotel to get a brochure with a list of all their hotels in it (quick thinking - no idea why i said that). Police man laughed and waved me through.

Don't suppose that would wash too much in these days of Smartphones!
