which route ?

just thought I'd try and gain some local knowledge from the err locals here...

Driving from Northwich to Chesterfield tonight (about 6 ish)

which route would you chose for the least traffic - ideally also being the most enjoyable to drive ?

I'd say via Macclesfield and Buxton, thus picking up the Cat and Fiddle. Nice road but i think it's all camera'd now.

Otherwise, head through the countryside to the Manchester Airport area, loop round onto the M67 ('3 o clock' on the M60) and out over the tops over to Sheffield and drop down from there.

Quite a few options and without going really out of your way, you're going to miss the dull M6/M62/M1!

ended up Holmes Chapel / Congleton / Buxton route
I remembered the averaging speed cameras on the cat & fiddle route from last time I went to Oulton Park;
came back this am @ 7.00 The A6 to Buxton was ace - virtually no traffic;
then the A54 out of Buxton kept me busy ! reminded me how big a car the Panamera actually is....
again, very little traffic
damn sight better than the roads around where I live - south Herts;
grew up in Chesterfield - damn I miss this area sometimes !!
