Camshaft Sensor on Vauxhall 2.016v ECOTEC
Discussion
Can anyone offer any assistance?
My Calibra is displaying a fault on the camshaft sensor. The garage have said there could be one of two parts at fault (or both i suppose). Rather than order either part, they have suggested i try and get hold of another vauxhall with the same engine to 'borrow' the part(s) from before i shell out for them myself.
Does anyone in the Preston area have a similar car and would be willing to 'lend' me the part(s) required in exchange for a few beers (I'm open to other methods of remuneration)?
Cheers in advance,
Swanboy

Not much help I'm afraid but a mate of mine had an Sri Cav a few years back and it too suffered with the dodgy camshaft sensor thing, its a well known fault that even dealers will acknowledge. Does your car revert to the get-you-home safe mode then? Car feels sluggish etc?
He found that wiggling it and restarting a coupe times sometimes reset it, otherwise its a new part I'm afraid.
Good luck tracing the problem anyway

Cheers for the advice, it is running sluggish, cuts out at high revs, using more petrol etc.
It is still intermittent, some mornings it will run perfectly only to misbehave on the way home or vice versa.
I still feel the need to rag it when it's behaving itself
I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take it to a Vauxhall Garage i think
