With the bad weather it's stopped me from keeping the car in decent condition, and I was thinking is there a decent hand car wash around Manchester?

The only hand car wash I'd take my car to is Over The Rainbow in London (https://www.facebook.com/OverTheRainbowDetailing), bit far to drive for a wash so I was hoping there was something as good around the NW.

Thanks

The two I use are both good, although recently I have only used the one close to where live!! The one closest to the centre of Manchester is called "wash & go" and it is on Cheetham Hill Road, and the one I'm using at the moment is "the Washfather" in Stockport. They charge £5.00 for a proper hand wash, or £10.00 for a mini valet! I think "wash & go" charge similar! HTH

I love washing and polishing mine, I find it very relaxing.

I find if I start washing my car my OCD kicks in. Last time I dismantled the hard pipe intake and rear back box to polish. Next bits start coming off for powder coating or improving, it's much cheaper for me to pay someone to wash it!

I've my wheels off before now because you can never really clean them properly when they are on the car. And I've removed the tail pipes and the rear number plate so I can clean underneath.

I normally hand wash the car every week with waxing and polishing every few weeks. Was just hoping to find somewhere that knows how to wash a car, two bucket method, for when it's ice cold outside or when I don't have time.

Does 'wash & go' use a pressure washer and sponge or a decent mitt? The car doesn't have a single swirl on it so hoping to keep it that way!

This has well and truly put me off 'wash & go' - http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/north-west/208023-w...

I've found another on Dantzic Street which is meant to be good, anyone been?

there is the one at the end or start of princess parkway, been there for years 15+ that i know of and always has premium cars being washed

only used it once, ok, obviously not as good as doing it yourself, but the current state of the car I'd rather the crap be on their concrete than my drive being walked into the house by the kids

I'm very jealous of you!

I don't even have time to take mine to the hand car wash these days!!

P.S. Nice car - and love the disclaimer on your site.

Resurrecting an old thread, I've just come across this car wash in Rusholme - SQS Car Wash (http://www.sqscarwash.co.uk/index.html). From looking at their promo video they get some decent cars through; Lambo/Ferrari/Bentley.

Anyone used or live nearby to have a gander?

I have never used a 'car wash' in my entire life. Never.

Until a few weeks ago. I sent my wife to our local hand wash with her car to try it out. When she returned, I had a look and thought, wow, it looks ok, not bad at all!

Then I noticed swirls. DAMN IT! All over the car. I washed it myself today and ok the paint isnt ruined but it is SWIRL CITY all over the car.

NEVER again.

The best place I know is in Crewe on West Street (operates alongside a Texaco garage), I seriously don't know how they make any money!

A £5 wash goes like this:

Quick blast with pressure wash
Spray on some cleaner using pump spray to wheels and lower half of car
Snow foam (no dwell time as such)
Quick pressure wash
Snow foam, no dwell, but using the snow foam with a wash mit to wash the car, top to bottom, separate mitt and brushes for wheels
Rinse with pressure wash
Hand dry with chamois (or similar), including door jams and boot open to do that area too
Quick window polish
Tyres dressed

It takes at least 20m per car, and there are quite a few guys working there, and only 2 lanes as such, so throughput is quite limited, like I said, surprised they make any money!
