Hi,

Somewhat o/t, but don't suppose anyone knows of a decent spa in the North West (pref. Cheshire)?

MrsLT is after a spa day booking for Christmas and I haven't got the first clue about which one would be good... basically needs to have pool, gym, decent treatments. Looking on the internet there seems to be little way to tell the difference between them and I don't want to fall for the pictures/blurb only to discover the place has gone downhill since.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated.

Cheers,
LT

Try Formby hall golf resort& spa's web site they're doing some good deals at the moment with spa, golf, evening meals & stay over.
Cheers Keith.
Edit - if you book anything let me know and I'll try and sort an upgrade on the room.

Rookery Hall ticks those I think.

But a lot of these places don't do enough business to keep a team on full time.

But one of the best Spa experiences I know of is the Chester Grosvenor in Chester city centre. Mrs is treated there from time to time wink

My Mrs has been to Mere the last couple of weeks. She says its very nice and she's generally quite fussy about stuff like that.
There is also Mottram hall. But out of the two I would go with Mere.

Thanks guys - will have a chat with Mere, it's probably the most conveniently located.

Grosvenor might be nice but sadly they're on my "can burn in hell" list after a particularly unpleasant experience there a couple of years ago.

Btw, thanks also for the offer of trying to sort something at Formby, Keith.

OP,

Avoid Mottram hall at the mo - it's like a building site. A pity, because her indoors really enjoied it last time she did a spa day there.
An ex colleague rated Cottons near mere / Knutsford, but he also rated Chiquitos, so I'm promising nowt.

There's a decent one (apparently) at Ribby Hall Village in Kirkham.

If she doesnt want the whole hog - this place is in our village and is big as far as beauty shops go and they do treatments and stuff there - http://www.expressionsofbeauty.co.uk/ - i know a few folk who go there and speak well of it.

(Sorry couldn't resist!)

The Spar in our village stocks a wide range of groceries, confectionery, fruit/veg, meat counter and sells lottery tickets, paypoint etc etc. So i suppose it's a decent SPAR.

Sorry, i'll get my coat.

Just by way of update - Mrs LT went off to The Mere earlier this month and found the place most agreeable.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

No problem. Happy to help. My missus is still going once a week for a massage so it can't be bad. Like I said, she's very fussy.
