Best Driving Roads In Cumbria
Discussion
Hello fellow PHers,
Just a inquiry into what you believe is the best driving road in Cumbria?
Had a fair few drives recently, particularly going over Newlands Pass and Kirkstone pass and wondered if anyone had any suggestions?
Also interested in other good driving roads in and around Cumbria that are fees-able for a sunday morning hooning.
Thanks
Liam

Go to Hartside the other way, Sedbergh to Brough, then Middleton in Teesdale across to Alston, then down Hartside to Penrith, a good 2 hour run, no camera's/cops or cars.
Or take the A595 up the west coast, that is a cracking run on a weekend, too many trucks during the week.
I have spent the last 20 years riding/driving around the area and these are the best by far

The A6, Kendal - Shap - Penrith, 22.5 miles of open road
Leave Kendal by the train station on the A6 and 22.5 miles later you have to stop for traffic lights over a small bridge just before Penrith. That is 22.5 miles with no traffic lights, speed bumps, crossing, etc
Used LOTS by a number of NW Police forces for (mostly advanced) driver training. Leave Kendal by the train station on the A6 and 22.5 miles later you have to stop for traffic lights over a small bridge just before Penrith. That is 22.5 miles with no traffic lights, speed bumps, crossing, etc
