Chaps,

I'm trying to find a barn style wedding venue in Cheshire/Lancashire, doesn't matter if it's licensed to conduct the ceremony or not. I don't want a stuffy wedding and really fancy an old barn where I can set up a hog roast and have a good and relaxing time with my nearest and dearest.

And thoughts or links to venues would be much appreciated. I need ammo to fight off the ''big white wedding" monster I can see lurking!

Sandhole Oak Barn, nr Congleton (sound limiter but not too bad)

Tithe Barn at Meols Hall, Southport (though has a sound limiter that is very aggressive)

Other option could be the Marquee at The Inn at Whitewell in the Trough of Bowland.

Thanks guys, the issue with Rivington is that (as I understand it) you are locked into a catering package deal. I want a venue where i can lay on the booze/food myself, well not myself, but you know what i mean.

I'll have a look when at home, thanks.

went to look at Pimhill Barn (a way off, in Shropshire) last weekend and it looks pretty good.

I am a wedding photographer and We photograph at Meols hall quite a lot. It's a nice venue. You can have a pint before hand at the pub across the road and then walk down with guests smile

Got married here, lovely venue (never had an issue with the sound limiter) but we were tied into the catering - they will do hog roasts though.

In truth we've given up and have settled for Eleven Didsbury Park.

I say 'settled', it's a lovely venue and the one we were both the most impressed with. Quite different to the orignal 'barn-type wedding' brief though. Oh well!

Thanks all for your suggestions.
